Hank vegan burger
My first ever Deliveroo! This was my first evening in Paris, self-isolating and having got up at 3am for an early flight. It’s hard to go wrong with a good vegan burger, and this was one that could have easily passed for meat. All the toppings were yummy, but the showstopper was the bread - rather than a slightly underwhelming dry brioche bun, it was soft and chewy - I knew I’d arrived in France, where even in the most American-ised dish, the bread has to be top quality.
Le Daily Syrien
I’m probably slightly biased with this one, because this kind of cuisine is my absolute favourite, but the selection of small plates and larger sandwiches and wraps was very exciting (even if scrolling through Deliveroo doesn’t quite replicate the experience of poring over a menu in a restaurant), and what came didn’t disappoint. Good value, good quality, filling and fresh, I’ll definitely be ordering again, and hopefully visiting in person some time.
Magna
In the running for best nearby pizza place, this Italian does classics with a bit of an edge, with their pizza ‘portafoglio’, a folded pizza. Not quite sure why, but it certainly tasted good, and I get the sense that they know what they’re doing when it comes to Napolitan street food.
Vegan Hero
Another Deliveroo find, so I can’t comment on the place itself, but the food fulfils a very specific need: vegan fast food. With plenty of unexpectedly vegan creations to choose from, the burger itself was really rather impressive for a meat-free substitute, and the chips were really rather good. Not exactly the peak of Parisian culinary culture, but a necessary go-to all the same.
Pizzou
Having walked past this cosy looking pizza place nearly every weekday on my walk home from the family’s apartment, it seemed like a good option for a local pizza, and it turned out to be just that! Soft, pillowy crusts, a varied selection of toppings and adaptable for vegans if you ask to remove the cheese, still leaving a pizza packed full of great stuff.
